I can't believe school is just right around the corner.  I feels like summer break just started a few days ago.  Where do all those summer days and nights go?  And another very important question to ask yourself as a parent; where does your child's learning and school retention go during summer break?

I know as a parent of a Kindergartner and a 2nd Grader, the thought of what seems to disappear out of my children's brains during the heat of summer is very concerning.  These concerns have lead me to seek out ways to make sure their little developing brains receive some much needed educational stimulation.

So I was recently given the opportunity to review a great FREE online educational site with games that blend things your children already love like animals, trains and for those of you with girls, even fashion.

This Free learning site can be used by children in grades K - Kindergarten through 12th Grade.  It is called PowerMyLearning.org and yes like I said it is Free.  So you are not out anything to give it a try.

Let me share my opinion about it features and let you know what my two boys thought...actually I should say my three boys as my son going into the 4th Grade wanted to be part of this online fun.

Before I continue with my review. I must not forgot to mention that it is simple and quick to sign up for a free account on PowerMyLearning.org. It took me less than a minute and I was or should I say my boys were ready to play online educational games. Who knew learning could be so much fun!

I am going to focus on the online math games via PowerMyLearning.org.  I love how bright and simple this online free site was to find exactly what you are looking for.  There are nice big tabs on the left hand side of the page which will lead you into the appropriate educational area.  And when you scroll over the tab it will give you an additional menu.

For example the Math tab, when scrolled onto extends so you can select the grade - and when you scroll over the grade it again opens to show many different categories of appropriate free online games for your student.

I love as a parent when I select the appropriate category for my child I can see right away a screen shot from the game, simple description and a star rating as to what others thought of the game.  I am still amazed at the number of games in each category.

My youngest son has fallen in love with the online math game called Trains (PBS) and it features his favorite monkey, Curious George.

I like that PowerMyLearning makes it easy and much safer for my children to be online and find appropriate and educational games to learn from.  If you noticed my youngest son loves the game Trains which is on the PBS page.  But PowerMyLearning.org  used a free platform which makes thousands of the best online learning activities easily accessible and usable in one trusted place.  (A Parent's Dream!)

I do have to help my youngest navigate the site.  But that is fine with me as I can help him and know exactly what he is up to.

My 2nd Grader loves a game called Spring Flowers.  He likes it as he can compete with his older brother.  The game can also be played by a single person.  It focuses on the Math area of Geometry.  I can't wait to see how he does this year at school.

So now any free time we have they are asking if they can play a computer game.  Little do they know how much they are learning (love it!).

Don't let your child lose an average of 2.5 months of academic growth (called the Summer Slide) over the Summer!  Make learning fun for your children.  Try the Free Online Learning Game Site called PowerMyLearning.org.
